Golden Mirrors
Here is something that is dangerous to think about:
My mother used to tell me that people are mirrors.
What she meant is that the way people behave towards you has a lot to do with how you treat them. She could have said that, “People demonstrate the golden rule in reverse”, but it would not have been as peppy as saying “People are mirrors”.
Are people afraid to see you coming because you are a little too overbearing?
Are people always taking advantage of you because maybe you always say “yes” when you know you should be saying “no”?
Are you constantly frustrated by your children because they run all over you, get into constant trouble, or fall short of the goals that you set for them - even though you give them everything they ask for?
If you are saying ‘yes’ to any of these things then maybe you need to ask, “What are these people seeing reflected in me?”
